So, how do you notice time passing? Is it by the calendar? Or how often you have to cut your nails or hair, etc? While in the field it is sometimes hard to judge how time passes. I often forget what day it is, which is pretty bad. While in town it is easy since I'm constantly looking forward to the weekend and bike rides. But here in South Carolina, I don't really have anything to look forward to. But lately I've been noticing a nice little, sort of disgusting, way to help judge time. Along the route that I come to the hotel that I "work" out of, there is a dead possum. It has been there for awhile, but everyday it is slightly more decayed. And I have a theory that I'm going to be here as long as this poor little creature is decaying by the side of the road. But when I see that the little guy has completely disappeared, then it will be time to go home. Sort of morbid, but it makes sense to me.
Alright, Joey, I've got my HL2 here, and I am going to install it in just a few minutes. Aren't you excited? I sure am.

my possum: every monday and friday i have to meet with the whole City Year "corps" downtown. i always park in free parking and always about the same place. one day b4 Christmas break i noticed this dead bird near my parking spot.
a month later is wasn't really decayed much on the outside bc the weather had been so cold. i was wondering if it was just going to stay there until this summer, but i think it's gone now. poor bird.
excited? i'm so excited that i'm doing homework!
i'm so excited that i have NO CLUE where my cell phone is. even though i had it next to the computer last night!
OH DAVE
everyone knows, liz, that rent is actually about people dying of chronic diseases, not about love. well, and it's also about somewhat sketchy scenes involving the lighting of other people's candles. dave-if it's really cold in sc your possum won't decay quickly at all which might skew your perceptions of time. you ought to factor that in.

Shawn, I realize that it is cold... and I know that is going to effect his decompisition. But I took that all into account, so I'll be here for.. well.. until it warms up maybe. Damn.
